Top 5 Weirdest Foods We Found In Singapore

5) Pandan Bao

There is a food in Singapore called a steamed bun. There are many different kinds of steamed buns. A common kind in New Zealand is a steamed pork bun. Pandan Bao is also a kind of steamed bun, although it tastes different and it is bright green. It gets its taste and color from a Pandan(also known as Screwpine) leaf. Sometimes Pandan bao is filled with a sweet lotus paste like in the picture.

4) Avocado And Coffee Smoothie

Avocado and coffee are both delicious but when you mash them together... Well that's where it gets a little less delicious and a lot more weird.
I highly doubt anyone in their right mind would want to drink avocado. Nonetheless, the Avocado And Coffee Smoothie is a real thing that real people drink!

3)  24 Karat Gold Burger

Have you ever wanted to poop gold? Well now you can! Just head on over to Hard Rock Cafe Singapore and order their famous 24 karat gold burger. Gold will be flowing from your rear end in no time! You might die of gold poisoning... But at least you will be able to brag to your friends!

2) Durian Fruit

Old Socks, Rotten Onions, Sewerage.
These things have only ever been used to describe two things. One of them is the smell of Durian Fruit. The Durian is the national fruit of Singapore. Although many people love it and it supposedly tastes nice, the Durian is the most stinky fruit known to man. In fact the Durian is so stinky that it is banned on public transport in Singapore! The Durian is not just a fruit though, it inspired the architectural design for the Esplanade building.

1) Salted Egg Flavoured Fish Skin

The Weirdest Food In Singapore Award©️ Goes to...! Salted Egg Flavoured Fish Skin?
Now that's just down right weird! When I feel like a snack the fish skins are definitely not the first thing that springs to mind and neither is salted egg, but believe it or not Salted Egg Fish Skin is actually quite common in Singapore.

  2. Interesting Food in Singapore - I missed my toast for breakfast, but got used to rice. I thought there were a lot of cats rooming around when we visited too. Did you get a chance to try the Durian? I didn't but remember it not being allowed on public transport. Did you get a chance to go the Singapore Zoo?
Thanks for the great and interesting blog. Cheers Jo

    1. Hi Jo, We get to try the durian as as well as being stinking it was stinking expensive! We went to the Zoo last time so we did other stuff this time. We did go to the London Zoo yesterday though and it was lots of fun. Mum said to tell you we saw a baby sloth and it's Mum. She thought it was super-cute. (I had to secretly agree). Finn
